Summer 2010:

Sorry I haven't kept up with the reports, it has been a very busy summer.  I fished my first US Open this summer in July on Lake Mead.  So I spent most of June and the first part of July prefishing for that!  I had a great practice with lots of fish and areas to hit.  All were within a few miles of each other, so I thought I had things pretty dialed in.  Our June club tourney was combined with Nevada Bass Anglers out of Temple Bar and we were greeted with an awesome day.  Fishing was hit and miss and I didn't do very well.  I had a small limit the almost went 8 pounds. It took a little less than 10 to win it.  We had 17 boats and 9 from the other club, so that was awesome!!  After that tourney I hit the practice hard and went looking for schools of fish.  I never found any, but found a good pattern throwing reaction baits to points with grass.  The Open came and we had 120 plus temps.  The water temp was even in the 90s.  This was the hottest three days on the water I had ever spent.  I pretty much sucked and didn't man up to my plan.  When you go 3+ hours with out a bite, your mind starts messing with you.  Or maybe it was the heat that was cooking me!  Needless to say on day one I scratched out a small limit, day two I had 3 fish, and day three I sucked it up and caught a decent limit helping my AAA finish in the top 10.  I learned a ton, and I can't wait for next year.  I was so burned out that I didn't want to fish the club tourney the next weekend, but I had to, so I could keep my AOY points lead.  Since everything was still tied on from the Open, I just went fishng and did what I should have done in the open.  I came in with a little under 10 pounds and big fish and took the pot!!  That was nice, but it just told me that I sucked out in the Open.  I won't do that again!!  I have another night tourney this August, so I look forward to that.
